It would be a first, at least in France. Since September 2021, the Park Polyclinic a Caen (Calvados) is opening several departments in a new 5,400 m² building. The extension, carried out by Icade Santé, a specialized subsidiary of the property developer, was carried out during the health crisis. It had been prepared since 2018. But it is not for this reason that the Caen health establishment stands out.
Reduced carbon footprint
The construction of this extension is accompanied by a program of energy renovation, according to Icade Santé. Eventually, all the windows and doors on the facade of the Caen polyclinic must be changed. According to the promoter, this would be the first of its establishments to be equipped with “glass with the lowest carbon footprint on the market”.
recycled glass
This new product was developed by Saint-Gobain Glass, the specialist in insulating glazing and solar protection glass. He designed it with 70% recycled glass, and manufactured with renewable energy. For the carbon footprint, the manufacturer announces a saving “of around 40% compared to the European average value of its products”.
The Polyclinic of the Park, property of the Elsan group, national leader in private hospitalization, would be the first complex to be equipped with it. The use of this new range of glass is part of a larger energy renovation plan at Icade Santé. By 2030, the promoter wants to reduce the carbon footprint of the more than 200 health establishments for which it is responsible in France and abroad by 37%.
