A Ukrainian family benefits from a free house for a year near Dijon
A Ukrainian family will be able to be more independent thanks to the issue of an owner. He decides to provide them with a house, free of charge, for a year. The renovation was carried out by the association Urgence Ukraine 21.
“I’m very happy, it’s really great!” It is with a smile from ear to ear that Ilham, Ira and their 9-year-old son, Nazar, discover their new home. After living for five months with a host family, these three Ukrainian refugees are going to have their own home in Brazey-en-Plaine, Côte d’Or. This gift is the work of a generous gesture from the owner who entrusted them with the keys to the house for nearly a year. is the fruit of the work of the volunteers of the association Emergency Ukraine 21.
From the floor to the ceiling, including the painting, the electricity and the installation of the kitchen, everything has been refurbished. Volunteers from the Urgence Ukraine 21 association took turns every day for 6 weeks. “When there is a hard blow, I believe that we can make a small contribution. It’s still nice!” exclaims Bernard Dubois, volunteer. Another volunteer, Aline Bonnardot, adds: “It is even essential in our world today to show solidarity with each other.”
A momentum of advantage in favor of these refugees who fled the bombings in Ukraine in March 2022. They will be able to enjoy a house of nearly 70 square meters which has two bedrooms. “This house is very important, because we are going to start a new life. We will live alone and we will do everything to stay united“, assures Ira, the mother of the family.
The association also found them a job. A rare opportunity. “Today, finding a job for a Ukrainian family who speaks no or very poor French is complicated. We are reduced to finding solutions on our own. This is often done by word of mouth“, assures Jean-Luc Sitbon, president of the association.
The Babayef family wants to stay in France. Now well established, the next big step is the start of the school year in Nazar, which is fast approaching.
