The youth of Bulgaria remain unbeaten in the groups of the European – Basketball
The Bulgarian national team defeated the Czech Republic 87:64 (18:17, 19:13, 23:8, 27:26) in the third match of the group phase of the European Championship for boys under 16, division B, which is being held in Sofia. The team led by coach Julian Aladzhov continues unbeaten in the championship and secures a place in the fourth final. For the loss of the opponent, it is the first after two victories at the start.
Key to the success of the Bulgarian team in the “Universiade” hall was the third quarter, in which the national series made 16:0 and scored 23 against only 8 points for the opponent.
The Bulgarian team gained a 7-point lead already in the middle of the first Thursday, which ended with a score of 18:17. The frequent exchange of leadership followed before a 10:0 run gave the national team a 37:30 lead at the break. When the game resumed, the difference reached 23 points in favor of Bulgaria. A 16-0 run for the Nationals gave them a 55-32 lead with just under 3 minutes left in the third Thursday. The Czech Republic was unable to respond to the performance of the Bulgarian boys, who led 60:38 before the final 10 minutes. The biggest difference in the game reached 27 points.
The top scorer for Bulgaria was Alexander Gavalyugov with 25 points, 2 rebounds and 8 assists. Stanislav Hinkov added 16 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists, and Teodor Trifonov added 14 points and 8 rebounds for success.
Jakub Ševčík finished for the Czech Republic with 15 points.
In their last match from group B tomorrow (August 16) at 6:15 p.m., the national team of Bulgaria will play against the team of Luxembourg.
