The MR7 at the gates of victory in Perpignan
Monaco Rugby Sevens (MR7) went all the way to the final of the first of three rounds of In Extenso Supersevens Rugby 2022, this Saturday in Perpignan. The Monegasques lost to Section Paloise (29-5).
This is a first step full of promise. After a dazzling journey to the final with no points conceded, Jérémy Aicardi’s men had an almost perfect first tournament.

While Cecil Afrika and Felipe del Mestre, the two stars of this Monegasque team, are not yet in 100% form, the MR7 players have shone in their first three games, signing a remarkable entry into the competition.
Cecil Afrika already decisive
With a scathing 26-0 against Brive to start, then a 35-0 against La Rochelle in the quarter-finals, the MR7 won its semi-final against Racing 92 without shaking (17-0).
Already decisive, despite not yet optimal preparation after three weeks in a coaching role with the USA team, Cecil Afrika took his team to the final. A last match that the Monegasques did not dominate this time, against a well-established Pau team.
Next step for the MR7, next Saturday in La Rochelle.
