The Dax has given back small initial gains. Around noon, the leading German index was hardly changed at 13,799.17 points, up 0.02 percent. Signs of declining US inflation had given the stock exchanges a strong boost in the past few days. But there are still risks for the markets.

The MDax of medium-sized stocks increased by 0.32 percent to 27,997.83 points by midday. The Eurozone leading index EuroStoxx 50 is 0.1 percent higher.
Economic data from China fields weak at the beginning of the week. They show that the growth engine in China is losing momentum, said Christian Henke, an analyst at Broker IG. He also noted that energy and commodity prices are still way too high and inflation is still a world away from central bank targets.
In the Dax, the papers of the consumer goods group Henkel fluctuated quite strongly after quarterly figures and an increased sales forecast. Most recently, they gained 1.1 percent.
Hellofresh jumped as a Dax leader by a good eight percent according to the final quarterly figures. Experts saw light and shade in the details, but also referred to rather optimistic management statements about the recently lowered annual targets.
