Prague is still looking in vain for a use for the Strahov Stadium
He is one of Prague’s best, who found his way into the Guinness Book of Records. And yet it is more of a nightmare than a source of pride for Prague. We are, of course, talking about the Strahov Stadium, which has been dilapidated for many years and the city still does not know what to do with this monster so that the city and its residents can really benefit from it.
A unique stadium in Strahov
The stadium was built on Strahovský kopč above Prague as early as 1926, but we associate it more with a later period, i.e. the one that followed the rebuilding in the 1970s. After that, Strahov acquired an area capable of accommodating nine football pitches, with a capacity of 250,000 spectators. The Strahov regime at the time used it for its propaganda through the Spartakiads.
Even after the revolution, a number of very interesting meetings and events took place in Strahov. We can mention, for example, the concerts of the groups Rolling Stone or Aerosmith, or the church service held by Pope John Paul II. Even that was not enough, and the Strahov Stadium was abandoned and began to fall into disrepair. Today, it is partly used by the Sparta football academy, but otherwise the stadium is fighting the ravages of time in vain.

The intentions of the city of Prague
The Prague leadership has a number of proposals for the improvement of Strahovského kopce, ideas for the construction of a national football stadium, a science and technology park, a park, as well as new residential developments have come together on the table.
It is appropriate to admit that the city does not have a simple situation in this respect. Above Strahov hovers the limits affected by preservationists.
