Petar Vitanov: Bulgaria will reduce gas consumption by 15% ᐉ News from Fakti.bg – Bulgaria
At the moment, Europe is in the middle of a cascade from the crisis and is suffering a lot of negativity, this was stated in “More of the Day” on BNT by the MEP from the Group of Progressive Alliances of Socialists and Democrats and member of the National Assembly of the BSP Petar Vitanov.
In his words, the totality of these crises makes the citizens of Europe the most affected after the citizens of Ukraine and perhaps Russia.
The crisis related to climate change is huge. Such phenomena as we are witnessing, we have not seen until now. The war is challenging an energy crisis that Europe cannot cope with. There are proposals to solve some of the issues, including gas supplies, but it takes time, he adds.
According to him, a central solution to the energy problem with general gas supplies in the way that Covid vaccines are implemented is impossible. He explained that the problem was not enough gas. If all of Europe gives up Russian gas, there will be nothing to replace it with.
It is categorical that the lower union not only registers the crises, but also gives its interpretation for solving them. On climate change, the EU is very ambitious. The Green Deal is literally the flag of the EC. As for the war – there the lowly alliance does what is possible, but read that the countries have not fulfilled their diversification.
Petar Vitanov admits that there is probably a double standard with regard to the sanctions against Russia, because “Germany continues to pay, according to “Turkish Stream” all of them have not been reduced, Italy continues to pay, the big countries continue to pay.” Bulgaria made an ideological decision that could not be economically justified, he stressed.
Bulgaria agreed to take 15% gas consumption. As a country, we have presented our position and it is positive.
Regarding the upcoming elections, Vitanov was categorical:
“The BSP has one function. It cannot be a crutch party. The BSP must either govern or be the opposition.”
He admitted that he does not accept to see his party with two or three ministries and a fourth or fifth political power.
“We should have different messages than saying that one or the other is our fault or begging like beggars to be in some kind of coalition,” Vitanov pointed out.
He added that in this unfair world, the BSP cannot but talk about equality, justice, income, policies, changes, ecology, and the climate. He admitted that BSP has achieved its successes in the social sphere.
