Hello Austria – Test: Peugeot 3008 Plug-In-Hybrid4
In the current Guten Tag Austria car test we have the Peugeot 3008 Plug-In-Hybrid4 in the equipment variant GT Pack with 300 hp system output, all-wheel drive and eight-speed automatic transmission e-EAT8.
The Peugeot 3008 received a completely new front end with its extensive makeover. The modern, frameless radiator grille has been pulled under the light signatures and connects all elements with one another. As with all new Peugeot models, the model designation “3008” now sits above it on the bonnet. In our test vehicle, the radiator grille has a sporty design with chrome strips that become larger towards the outside. Glossy black air intakes have been integrated into the new bumper for an even sportier appearance. The front headlights have been completely reworked in an aggressive design.
For an even more technically modern design, Peugeot has enlarged the light signature and equipped it with full LED headlights and a static cornering light function. The cornering light function improves visibility at speeds of up to 90 km/h. Also new is the “Foggy Mode” function, which replaces the fog lights. It is integrated into the full LED headlights and adjusts the intensity of the low beam headlights when the rear fog lights are activated. At the rear, the new and improved 3D claw-shaped lights with 3D effect feature Full LED technology (including the reversing light). The turn signals are sequential.
The new 19-inch “San Francisco” alloy wheels are exclusive to the GT Pack trim level only.
New instrument cluster with a larger touchscreen
There are also numerous innovations in the interior of the new Peugeot 3008. The i-Cockpit has an updated instrument cluster and touchscreen. The 12.3-inch (31.2 cm) instrument cluster is fully customizable. The digital display features the latest “Normally Black” technology for high-quality reproduction with better legibility and contrasts.
The new central touchscreen is high-resolution and 10 inches (25.4 cm) in size. The most important comfort functions can be controlled directly via the seven elegant piano keys (toggle switches) under the touchscreen: radio, air conditioning, TomTom® 3D real-time navigation with voice control, vehicle settings, telephone, smartphone apps and hazard warning lights. On our Plug-In Hybrid model, we find a dedicated button that accesses the electrical functions menu.
Our test vehicle is also equipped with a driving mode switch. This sits on the center console and allows quick switching between Normal, Sport, Eco, Electric (default at start), Hybrid and Sport modes. We also find the 4WD all-wheel drive mode here during our test drives.
High quality equipment
The interior of the Peugeot 3008 leaves a particularly elegant impression thanks to the dark linden wood, the window regulators with chrome inserts and the frameless rear-view mirror. Of course, the Peugeot 3008 also offers a light and rain sensor, keyless start system, 2-zone automatic climate control with activated carbon filter, rear parking aid and digital radio reception DAB+, mirror screen, electrically folding exterior mirrors, LED access lighting, front parking aid – acoustic and visual, reversing camera with 180 ° environment view. Seat upholstery in Alcantara®/synthetic leather, TomTom® 3D real-time navigation system with multifunctional touchscreen with 10″ HD color screen, full LED headlights and much more.
Driver assistance systems for safety
Our test car has all of the latest driver assistance systems from the lion brand, including: The Night Vision night vision system is unique in the SUV segment. An infrared camera detects living beings at a distance of 200 to 250 meters in front of the vehicle at night or when visibility is limited. For example, the driver sees the area in front of the vehicle in the display of the instrument cluster even when it is foggy. The ACC automatic cruise control with STOP & GO function including the lane positioning assistant automatically adjusts the distance to the vehicle in front programmed by the driver – up to a complete standstill. If the vehicle in front starts again within three seconds, the journey is automatically resumed. The system allows the driver to select the position on the lane and prompts him to keep his hands on the steering wheel. The latest generation of Active Safety Brake Plus automatic emergency braking detects pedestrians and cyclists during the day and at night from 5 km/h to 140 km/h with a collision risk warning. Advanced traffic sign recognition displays traffic and speed signs in the instrument cluster (detection of stop sign, one-way street sign and beginning and end of no-overtaking).
All-wheel drive and 300 hp system power
Our test vehicle has a system output of 300 hp, offers all-wheel drive, eight-speed automatic transmission e-EAT8 and a purely electric range of up to 55 kilometers. From 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds with a maximum torque of 520 Nm. That means pure driving pleasure with the Peugeot 3008 GT Hybrid4 with all-wheel drive, which achieves a total output of 220 kW (300 hp). The power comes from a combination of the 1.6 l PureTech petrol engine with 147 kW (200 hp) and two electric motors (front/rear), which provide 81 kW (110 hp) and 83 kW (112 hp) respectively. The plug-in hybrid model purely drives up to 55 kilometers according to the WLTP standard. Despite the high drive power – which makes the 3008 GT Hybrid4 the most powerful Peugeot production model of all time – the SUV only emits 29-30 grams of CO2 according to WLTP per kilometer.
Due to their efficiency, the NoVA for the Peugeot 3008 plug-in hybrid models is exactly zero percent. Customers of the plug-in hybrid models in Austria also benefit from the federal government’s electromobility bonus. Detailed information is available from all Peugeot dealerships.
