ČSSD and independents: Solidarity for Prague 4: Trees planted for every child born help mitigate global warming
Even during this summer, the inhabitants of Prague have to face high temperatures, often tropical, which make our metropolis a difficult place to live. ČSSD and independents: Solidarity for Prague 4 therefore has in its program priorities for the municipal elections the introduction of the Trees for Born Children project, which has been successfully running in neighboring Prague 10 since 2007.
We want all parents to be able to participate in planting a tree for their new born child. They would plant the tree in the nearest possible place from their residence. Parents and possibly grandparents will have the opportunity to cover “their” tree with soil and attach a sign with the child’s name on it or near it.
Babiš’s opponents have the right to disturb the shouts or do they have a stronger form of his meeting?

“Although the current mayor is constantly talking in the media about how many new trees have been planted in Prague, he no longer adds that it is mainly in the outskirts of the metropolis, where it has only a minimal effect on reducing extreme temperatures and improving the air quality. In the fight against the consequences of global warming, even flowery meadows will not help much, however important they are and have aesthetic value. I believe that thanks to our project, children and parents will gain a closer emotional relationship with nature and will then get involved in regular care of new trees. From an early age, children will thus perceive greenery as a natural part of their surroundings, which enriches their lives,” says candidate Petr Horálek.
The trees will be planted not only on the plots entrusted to the administration of the Prague 4 Municipality, but also on communication vegetables that fall under the capital, and in other suitable places on the basis of an agreement with the owners of the respective plots. “We want to invite the residents of the district to send their own suggestions on where to plant new trees. Someone may even be happy that the town hall is improving his own land in this way. But it is clear to us that it will not always be easy to find such spaces. We have already selected several locations that directly call for the planting of new trees. Among them is, for example, the space on the Kavčí hory near the headquarters of Czech Television and the area around the last tram in Spořilov,” explains candidate Filip Outrata.
According to the country-wide initiative “Planting the future”, another ten million trees, i.e. one for each inhabitant of the Czech Republic, would create a daily supply of oxygen for 30 million people or do the same work as 40 million air conditioning units. Every tree counts, you can start at any time!
