BrusselsIn the green setting of the Vaux-Hall in the Warande Park, young and old were able to let loose on Monday afternoon during the summer ball of the City of Brussels. All residents were welcome, but the program was especially tailored to everyone who is not so young anymore.
The ball started with a dance animation, followed by a performance by Johnny Hallyday lookalike Jo Davidson and his live band. The evening will close with a real XXL karaoke and accompanying deejay David Sound. Also the information and snacks were not lacking. “In the summer there are a lot of activities to do in Brussels. We wanted the older people to enjoy a wonderful moment”, says organizer Marina Bresciani of Brussels Major Events vzw. The invitation clearly written to: 628 people committed to the summer ball and visible from the music, atmosphere and beautiful decor.
Carmen, Colette, Marie and Nicole descended on the park for “a day out with friends.” “We felt like going out together again,” says Colette from Woluwe-Saint-Pierre. “The music, the atmosphere and especially being among the people. we’re coming”, the ladies say.
Heat
The elderly are vulnerable and sensitive to heat. “We therefore provide plenty of shade, there are beach chairs to rest in and we offer plenty of shade,” says Marina. A team of the Red Cross is also on site as a preventive measure. “There have been no incidents for the time being, but we are extra alert with these warm temperatures,” said a Red Cross present.
