It was precisely at 7:15 p.m. that an individual walked through the doors of the church, a suitcase in his hand. Facing the individual, the priest intervened, telling him not to put down his trunk.
Determined, the suspect did not hesitate to pass in front of the man of faith, jostling him in order to drop off his suspicious package.
He left in stride and is, at present, still on the run. The priest was not injured.
No explosive device
After this scene, the police and their deminers went to the Saint-François-de-Paule des Minimes church. UN security perimeter was established the time to proceed with the intervention.
Ultimately, no explosive device was present in the suitcase. In the latter, the police discovered a statuette representing a cherub and several booksincluding some related to Catholicism.
According to our information, if the motives of the suspect are still unknown, the track of a terrorist act is, for the moment, dismissed by investigators.
