The Generalitat will study the possibility of opening a delegation in China
BARCELONA, 14 ago. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Department of Foreign Action and Open Government of the Generalitat, led by Victòria Alsina, will study the possibility of opening a Government delegation in China.
Sources from the Ministry have detailed to Europa Press that it is a primitive approach, and that this reflection will be opened and work will be foreseen from 2023.
Thus, the department will assess whether it is convenient to open a new delegation in China, and it is a “reflection for the near future” in which the Ministry is not fully working.
This reflection – opened a few months ago and prior to the tension with Taiwan after the visit of the president of the United States House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi – has been raised after the Government has promoted its first delegations in Asia.
PRESENCE IN ASIA
These first delegations of the Government in the Asian continent will be located in Tokyo (Japan) and Seoul (South Korea), and will be promoted by the Ministry considering that the Government should have a presence in Asia.
Alsina announced in March the opening of six new Government delegations in 2022, including those in Tokyo and Seoul, in addition to the 14 previously existing.
These new delegations strengthen the presence of the Generalitat in Africa, America and Asia, and will also be located in Brazil, Andorra, Southern Africa –in Pretoria (South Africa) and which will cover Angola and Mozambique– and Western Africa –with headquarters in Dakar (Senegal) and coverage in Gambia, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Ghana and Mali–.
