It was with a second defeat in a row that the reserve team of Stade Malherbe Caen (N2) ended its series of friendly matches, Saturday August 13, 2022. In Vire, the young Malherbistes were dominated by Stade Brestois, yet resident of the lower echelon (N3).
A very fragile defense
Their defense, already undermined three days earlier by Vire (N3, 2-3 defeat), again conceded three goals. Brest won 3-2 despite goals from Norman Bassette and Mario Fortunato, who equalized late in the game. Caen conceded 14 goals in their six warm-up matches.
Only one victory in six games
In a classic configuration, with only the reinforcement of young professionals including Jason Ngouabi, back in competition, the Stade Malherbe reserve team has therefore conceded its third defeat of the pre-season. She won only one match, with big reinforcements (Ntim, Jeannot, Brahimi and Abdi), for two draws. Caen will attack its mission to maintain National 2 on Saturday August 20, 2022 at home against Vannes.
A top scorer named Jeannot
The reserve’s top scorer in preparation is none other than Benjamin Jeannot, who scored in two of the three games played (three goals in all). No other player managed to score more than one goal. Norman Bassette had to wait for the last friendly match to unlock his counter.
