An original protest by five groups of friends who will cycle a distance of 3,000 km shouting “Bring them back».
Starting from England, they will pass through France, Switzerland, Italy, they will pass through Greece and through Thessaloniki they will reach Athens and the Parthenon carrying the message of the return of Marbles of the Parthenon.
The reason for a group that, with the slogan “Bring them back” and a Greek flag, updates Greece’s constant demand.
The spontaneous idea of a group of cyclists living in London, was the reason to start the symbolic cycling protest today, Sunday (14/08).
Speaking on the show “With a new look”, the cyclists, Vasiliki Boutzali, Stephen Straich, Yiannis Efthymiou, Vassilis Kordas and Stavros Soumas describe the purpose of the 3,000 kilometer journey, as well as the routes they will follow until they reach Greece.
As they say the idea for this symbolic action came from the summer holidays. “Wanting to make a trip from London to Athens, we thought of the return of the Parthenon Marbles, which was a topical issue,” said Vassiliki Boutzali.
“We start from England, then we will go to France, from there to Switzerland where we will cross the Alps a pass of 2,800 meters, then we will go down south to Italy and from there we will take a ship to Igoumenitsa. Then follow Kastoria, Thessaloniki, Larissa, Delphi, Thebes and OAKA” said Vassilis Kordas and added that “we expect to arrive in Athens in two weeks as on Sunday the 28th we will be at OAKA and from there we will go to the Acropolis”.
Furthermore, the cyclists reported that in order to ensure their safety they will travel from morning to afternoon and that they are accompanied by a driver in the car in case some help is needed.
“We will start with the bikes from the morning until the afternoon so that we will be safe in the evening when we spend the night in a hotel” said Mr. Kordas.
