The last two Ligue 2 champions, Troyes and Toulouse, clashed this Sunday, August 14, 2022, on the lawn of the Stade de l’Aube. If the Violets had a few sweats in the first period, the match finally turned to their advantage (0-3).
Troyes offers the first opportunities
Fairly calm start to the match with situations on both sides. If Toulouse has the ball, it is Troyes who offer themselves the best opportunity with a marvelous cross from Adreas Bruus bound for Mama Balde. Left alone by the Toulouse rearguard, the Trojan striker misses his head (13e).
Another big scare, ten minutes later, when Antoine Rouault is trapped by… Mama Baldé. The Bissao-Guinean international offers a breakthrough into the purple area. Fortunately for the TFC, Rasmus Nicolaisen keep an eye out. The Danish rock performs a saving intervention: virile but correct.
The TFC passes in front… without framing a strike!
After a fairly boring start to the match, it was Toulouse who opened the scoring thanks to a good job by Zakaria Aboukhlal. After having moved out of his right lane, the summer rookie sends a very good ball to the captain Brecht Dejaegere, back in the starting XI. The ball is finally deflected by the unfortunate Yasser Larouci for its own purposes. 1-0 for Téfécé at the 36e minute of play. And it’s pretty well paid.
New sweats for Toulouse when, in the 43rd minute, Branco van den boomen is guilty of a hand, by tackling in his penalty area. After a few seconds of hesitation, the VAR was not deemed fit to reconsider a possible penalty. Enough to push a sigh of relaxation in the ranks of Toulouse.
The score will not move until half-time and the TFC remains in front without even having framed a strike.
Toulouse takes the break just after the break
Back from the locker room, the Toulousains are enterprising, like this free kick attempted by Branco van den Boomen (52e), well repulsed by the Trojan porter.
Two minutes later, Zakaria Aboukhlal (him again!) is acting up. After a superb recovery from Stijn Spieringsthe Moroccan international recovers the ball and distills a superb center towards Rafael Ratao. The Brazilian only has to score in the empty goal (0-2, 54e).
First victory of the season for the Violets
Author of a very good match, Zakaria Aboukhlal could have opened his counter but with the Violets. Benefiting from a superb handing over of the head of Thijs Dallinga, the Moroccan failed to find the frame. Too bad for the Téf ‘which misses the match point (66e).
Entrance to 69e minute in place of Thijs Dallinga, under the chants of the Toulouse supporters, Rhys Healey showed that he was still there by offering himself a superb but. As a soloist, the top scorer in Ligue 2 last year beat Gauthier Gallon with a superb cross shot (0-3, 85e).
Without trembling and facing a groggy opponent in the second period, the Violets offer themselves their first success since their return to the elite of French football.
