Antwerp DJ Amelie at the Spanish festival was hit by a deadly sandstorm: “My love and strength for the flights”
Amelie Lens was ready to shoot at the Medusa Festival near Valencia on Friday night, when a severe sandstorm caused one death and decades on the site. The Antwerp DJ expresses her support to the faces and their loved ones via Instagram.
On Saturday at 6 am, Amelie Lens would close the first day of the Medusa dance festival on the techno stage. But shortly after 4 o’clock the festival site, on Cullera beach, was unexpectedly hit by a sandstorm. Heavy gusts of wind tore off the decor, one of the stages collapsed. A 22-year-old man was hit by flying debris and was killed, at least 40 injured.
The festival, which would last until Monday and expected 320,000 visitors, was shut down after the storm. The organization has already announced that the rest of the festival will not take place.

“Completely devastated by the news about the storm yesterday on Medusa”, the 32-year-old Antwerp posted on Instagram on Saturday afternoon. “I send all my love and strength to the family and friends of the person who died, and to those who are injured.”
