We are small, fast and attentive – Garát-Gasparics
The Hungarian women’s ice hockey team won one game at last year’s Group A world championship as newcomers, this year they would like to raise the bar and finish the group stage with at least two victories. Of course, they have even bolder dreams than this, and Pat Cortina, who is returning to the team, expects that the girls will not be satisfied with just participating.
“It’s a very fond memory, perhaps the fondest from the World Cup is in Group A 2019 promotion. Therefore, I can say on behalf of the whole team that we were very positive about Pat Cortina’s return, and we were excited to work together. It seems to be confirmed that there is a tough, good mood, as we experienced before” – He told Fanni Garát-Gasparics in connection with the fact that for the Group A World Championship starting on August 25 the Hungarian women’s ice hockey team is preparing with the old-new federation captain, Pat Cortina.
The new team recorded one victory at last year’s World Cup, against Denmark, the host of this year’s tournament. This year, the girls would set the bar higher, as they want to win at least two games in the group, and their goal is to reach the quarter finals. According to Pat Cortina, the balance of power is balanced, a lot will depend on fitness and form on the given day. The Canadian coach believes if they give their best, they can be satisfied. In what position will this be enough? Even he doesn’t know that yet.
In our video, Fanni Garát-Gasparics also mentions that, in his opinion, the strength of the Hungarian national team may be that they are small, fast and sharp in possession, they really like the puck. He speaks Emma Kreisz also from whom we can learn, among other things, how the busy weekdays pass during the preparation, and what experiences they gained in the two recent training matches against the Danes.
