The Slovak volleyball team was once again stronger than Hungary: promotion to the EC is very close
The Slovak volleyball players will succeed in their fourth match in the F-group of the qualifiers for the 2023 European Championship. In Budapest, they beat Hungary 3:1 and have nine points to their credit. With Saturday’s triumph, they came closer to participating in the European championship.
In the next match, they will play in Nitra on Wednesday against the leaders of the Spanish tables (6:00 p.m.) and on Saturday, August 20, they will conclude the qualifying battles in Tbilisi against the home Georgians (7:00 p.m.). The winners and the five best-placed second-placed teams from the seven groups of four will advance to the final tournament.

In the first set, the Slovaks bounced back from their opponents for a score of 4:4, when they won five points in a row. They maintained the lead for quite a long time and even though the Hungarians managed to get closer to a difference of two points, their opponent took the first set to a winning end 25:21.
In Kardoš, the trustees took another one from 4:5 to 11:5 and kept their attention. They didn’t let the opponent get any closer than the difference of five points and in the end they won the second set unequivocally 25:16.
In the third set, both teams fought for every point. In the end, the home team took the lead 24:21 and did not let the set slip away. Even the final act had a balanced course for a long time, but at 18:18, the Hungarians allowed the Slovaks to jump to a difference of five points. They used the second match point and won the fourth set 25:20.
