Sebastian Burduja: The Republic of Moldova is years away…
The Romanian Minister of Digitization, Sebastian Burduja, stated that the Republic of Moldova is “light years ahead” of Romania in terms of the digitization of state institutions and that it achieved this through a World Bank program that was implemented in 10 years.
Sebastian Burduja stated, on Saturday, at Digi24, that the Republic of Moldova is ahead of Estonia, from the point of view of digitalization of state institutions.
The Minister of Digitization explained that he made a visit to the Republic of Moldova to take the model from this country, regarding the digital one.
“I was in Chisinau a month, a month and a half into my mandate, I signed a joint commission together with Deputy Prime Minister Iurie Čšurcanu, an exceptional man, a true specialist and a consummate professional. Through this joint commission, the Republic of Moldova will not make available for free the solutions that they have developed and taken 10 years for, “said Burduja.
Asked what Moldovans do exactly, Sebastian Burduja stated that almost any service can be accessed online.
“First of all, they can do almost any public service online: vehicle registrations, paying taxes and fees, various petitions, responses and so on. When their ANAF accesses their data, they receive or notify by SMS, but they can receive it and through WhatsApp, Telegram or other services that the state has accessed their data. We took this model and put it in the Ordinance on the cloud. To return, to give Romanians the security and confidence that their data will be much better protected, than at present, when a state institution accesses their data, it is written in the ordinance, there is a journaling, exactly how they did. and the Moldovans, an indelible journaling in which I, as a citizen, will know the moment an institution accesses data, I will know when, why it did it and on what legal basis”, added Sebastian Burduja.
However, few Moldovans go online, Burduja also stated.
“They solved a program at the World Bank very well thought out, with a handful of people and with a political will for continuity, with all the problems they had, with all the instability of one government to another, for 10 years, they gave maximum importance to the digital transformation of the state and then they see each other. Unfortunately, what problem do Moldovans have today, out of a population of 2 million citizens, approximately 200,000 use these services”, said Sebastian Burduja.
