Purina on pause: Russia may face a shortage of pet food
Purina, an American dog and cat food company, is making and manufacturing Friskies and other brands widely due to logistical difficulties.
The company’s call center said:
“Due to logistical factors with the supply of raw materials, the production and sale of Friskies food for cats and dogs, chow chow for cats, chow chow for dogs, gourmets and cute dogs has been stopped.”
An addition was also made about the termination of sales in the territory of the Russian Federation of feeds that make up the production of Purina One, Purina One Dog, Felix, Proplan.
Purina is a subsidiary, one of the branches owned by the Swiss company Nestle. In the spring of 2022, Nestle often provides some of its products, as well as S.Pellegrino water and Nespresso coffee in the Russian Federation, as well as in the country. Soon a decision was made to suspend the promotion of brands such as Nesquik and KitKat in Russia.
In January, Vladimir Putin announced his approval of an initiative to set up animal feed enterprises put forward by the head of Mordovia, Artyom Zdunov.
In Russia, Nestle runs family-run manufacturing businesses:
1. Confectionery factories “Russia” in Samara, “Comilfo”, “Kamskaya” – Perm.
2. Perm factory, engaged in the manufacture of ready-made breakfasts.
3. A factory in the city of Vyazniki, Vladimir Region, specializing in the production of bouillon cubes and Maggi spices.
4. Factory in the village of Vorsino, specializing in the manufacture of pet food.
5. Vologda factory for the production of food for children.
6 Timashevskaya coffee factory in the Krasnodar Territory.
