Gazprom’s extra deliveries to Hungary have started
Despite the dramatic increase in natural gas prices, the question today is not even how much gas costs, but whether there will be enough for the winter period – pointed out Tamás Menczer.
The politician stated that Hungary is in the lead in the field of filling gas storage units in proportion to consumption. A level above 32 percent would be sufficient in normal times – especially since the European average is below 20 percent – but most of us are living in abnormal times, so you have to lose weight for sure, he said.
This is why the government previously decided that approximately 700 million cubic meters of natural gas should be purchased in addition to the contracted quantities
– added the state secretary.
“Knowing today’s European market conditions, that it is impossible to procure such a large quantity without Russian resources, that is why Minister Péter Szijjártó recently held negotiations in Moscow, which were followed by several trade consultations. These led to an agreement, following these
yesterday morning, Gazprom started to supply more than the already contracted quantities. In the first phase, an additional volume of 2.6 million cubic meters will arrive from the south via the Turkish Stream pipeline by the end of August, and negotiations are already underway on the September schedule.”
– explained Tamás Menczer.
