This is how we can characterize the well-known restaurant La Gare, which has been preparing selected French specialties for years in the very center of the metropolis. The editors of PrahaIN.cz visited the company in the middle of summer to taste their giants on the grill, which was supplemented with blood and a glass of Alsatian crémant.
Hot summer days awaken in us an interest in lighter, simple meals or seafood. to travel to the Côte d’Azur right away, your taste buds can be richly satisfied in the very center of our capital.

The French restaurant La Gare, enticing after a recent renovation with a refined design that does not take away from the comfort of visitors, is perfect for a weekend summer lunch. The environment is suitable for families with children and there is also the possibility to sit in the spacious summer garden, protected from the strong rays of the sun.

Our editors decided to try the weekend promotion with their 1+1 giant shrimp. These are tiger prawns living in warmer waters, which stand out because they reach a length of up to 20 centimeters. The La Gare restaurant’s summer event in the form of two 200-gram shrimp fulfills a pleasant and light form of lunch. Shrimps, which are imported by air in wet wool to preserve freshness as much as possible, are prepared at La Gare under the guidance of chef Roman Rataj on the grill.

The shrimp came to our table together with a sauce made from a strong broth made from shrimp skeletons and tomatoes. The fullness of the experience, in addition to the carefully chilled sauce and tender meat of prawns fragrant thanks to the preparation on the grill, the provider of fresh chervil, an herb typical of French cuisine. Pleasant and well-informed staff will also deliver hand-made baguettes from a local Prague bakery to accompany the shrimps with fluffy sauce. A glass of dry crémant, a sparkling wine from the French region of Alsace, with which the restaurant complements this meal, completes the concert of flavors.

It’s hard to imagine a delicious lunch without sweet treats. In this regard, too, La Gare makes me think that a rather good ice cream will come during the summer heat. We chose two scoops, vanilla and coconut ice cream, which the restaurant makes itself. Ideal together with a cup of quality espresso. If, of course, you would like the famous crème brûlée, for example, you will get it.
We would definitely like to return to the La Gare restaurant sometime, because we had the appetite for appetizers such as the exact watermelon with salty cheese, basil and capers or grilled fois gras with fig compote and port wine, but there is certainly no room. We can only recommend a visit.
