Trapp nominated as world goalkeeper
He deserves it! Eintracht’s Kevin Trapp (32) has been nominated for the Yashin Trophy as the best goalkeeper of the past season.
The award is presented by the organizer “France Football” as part of the “Ballon d’Or” award ceremony.
Since 2019, the world goalkeeper has also been honored with the Yashin Trophy. There is also the IFFHS World Goalkeeper of the Year (since 1987) and FIFA World Goalkeeper of the Year (since 2017).
Trapp is on the list because he led Eintracht to the Europa League title with top performances.
In the final against Glasgow Rangers (6:5 a.e.t.) Trapp saved Kurt before the end of the sensational extra time and saved Aaron Ramsey on penalties. Trapp had previously shone against Barcelona and West Ham.
The prize will be awarded on October 17th. However, the competition for Trapp is huge.
Other nominees are: Alisson Becker (Brazil, Liverpool), Yassine Bounou (Morocco, Sevilla FC), Thibaut Courtois (Belgium, Real Madrid), Ederson (Brazil, Manchester City), Hugo Lloris (France, Tottenham), Mike Maignan (France, AC Milan), Édouard Mendy (Senegal, Chelsea), Manuel Neuer (Germany, Bayern Munich) and Jan Oblak (Slovenia, Atlético Madrid).
Since Trapp should only have outsider chances. Nevertheless, the nomination is already a great honor for him!
