Austrian GP: Spielberg Adventure / MotoGP schedule
After the British GP in Silverstone last week, the “CryptoDATA Motorcycle Grand Prix of Austria” is on the agenda from August 19th to 21st. SPEEDWEEK.com has summarized all the occasional times.
The MotoGP weekend at Silverstone was already a tough one after the long summer break. The GP stars prepared spectacular duels, overtaking maneuvers and a grandiose show for the spectators in the races.
Ducati factory rider Pecco Bagnaia triumphed in England, for the fourth time this season he was at the top of the podium. The Italian reduced the points gap to World Cup leader Fabio Quartararo to 49 points. The Frenchman did not finish in Assen, most recently in Silverstone he only managed 8th place. In addition, the layout of the Red Bull Ring is not ideal for the slightly less powerful M1.
Aprilia star Aleix Espargaró also suffered a setback in the World Championship fight. After a fall in the fourth free practice session in England, the Spaniard injured both his feet and fractured his right heel. Whether Aleix is fully fit again for the Austrian GP remains to be seen.
In the Moto2 class, Augusto Fernández (Red Bull KTM Ajo) took over the reins. The Spaniard won just ahead of Alonso Lopez and thus secured the championship lead. Going into the 13th GP of the season at Spielberg, he leads 13 points ahead of Ai Ogura and 15 ahead of Celestino Vietti. Marcel Schrötter comes to the Red Bull Ring as eighth in the World Championship.
In the Moto3 class, the top three riders in the overall standings moved closer together again. Because Sergio Garcia and Izan Guevara (both GASGAS) did not score at Silverstone, Honda driver Dennis Foggia came back to within 42 points of the championship leader. Will the Italian continue to gain ground?
In addition to the three GP classes, the supporting program also includes the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup and the MotoE in Austria.
