Andorra closes another mountain pass to cars
We have known for years that Andorra is one of the countries that gives the most support to cycling. Now, the Department of Mobility has announced the closure of the eastern slope of Collada de Beixalís.
Specifically, the CS-210 road, which starts in Encamp, will be exclusively for cyclists during the weekends until September 18, between 8 and 11 in the morning.
The Government has made this decision “to offer a safer road for cycling.” In any case, the institutions ask the athletes to also respect the traffic regulations. Likewise, the possibility of passage is reserved for authorized neighbors and emergency vehicles.
Specifically, the ascent has a distance of 6.6 km with an average greater than 8% and with several ramps greater than 15%. The total difference in altitude to overcome is almost 600 meters, before reaching the top at 1795 meters of altitude. The first half of the pass is the hardest, with 3 kilometers around 10% of average gradient.
