POLITICS IN OWN WORDS Deputy Mayor m of Prague for Prague to himself on his Facebook on August 11 to Štvanická lávka
Today I read in the newspaper that the Štvanická footbridge is delayed. Fortunately, this is not true – the original opening date of the footbridge in February 2023 applies. But I take it as an opportunity to write what is currently happening on the construction site. If you walk around, you can see the huge shift in recent weeks.
We finish with pillars. Just tonight, we will concrete the penultimate of the five pillars, using a special technique from the shore. The mixer will be on the shore at Štvanice and we will transport the concrete to the pillar with a pump. Concreting will start this evening and at a rate of about 0.75 m3 per hour we expect to finish around six in the morning. This will complete the pillar near Štvanice, and we will concrete the last one in two weeks using the same technique again from the Holešovice bank.
At the same time, concreting of all parts of the bridge from high-strength concrete is underway in the concrete plant in Štětí. We will gradually transport them to Prague.
Here we already have a temporary support structure ready for them between Karlín and Štvaníča. We will now start laying the prefabricated footbridge segments on it and switch them together to the final position. When it’s done, we’ll remove the temporary structures again.
We have also completed a successful lighting test. We designed this in cooperation with the Czech Astronomical Society so that it does not cause unnecessary light pollution, does not shine into the river for fish and does not disturb insects and birds.
Well, it will be more lively again soon on both banks, where on the Holešovice side we will transform the entire embankment and on the Karlín side we will soon start widening and asphalting the path for bicycles and pedestrians.
Everything is just running and I’m glad that Prague really knows how to build bridges.
