Van der Bellen advertised at the weekly market “Schranne” in Salzburg – federal presidential election
Before the BP elections on October 9th, Alexander Van der Bellen campaigned for support at the “Schranne” weekly market in the city of Salzburg on Thursday.
At 10.15 a.m. he and his wife Doris Schmidauer faced the photographer. Two prominent supporters had already been waiting for the couple: actress Verena Altenberger, currently the “Amour” in “Jedermann” at the Salzburg Festival, and festival director Markus Hinterhäuser.
BP choice: Visitors to “Schranne” in Salzburg asked Van der Bellen for a selfie
The mood was casual. Even if no crowds of people clung to Van der Bellen as he walked through the weekly market at Mirabellplatz, a few market visitors asked him for a selfie, and there was also time for small talk. Altenberger explained in the APA interview why she WILL choose him. “He’s very clever. It’s important to me that he thinks in solidarity.” And she also wants his wife to remain First Lady. “She is extremely committed to women’s rights.” However, one lady did not spare criticism of the incumbent: “He has far too little left for women’s issues.”
