One solar power plant on the roof of an apartment building in Černý Most and two in Libni – three pilot projects were used to test technologies and set up processes for the municipal company Technology of the City of Prague (THMP). Now it is already moving into a sharp construction mode. By the end of the year, he wants to install photovoltaic panels on another 17 buildings, and from next year, he wants to increase the pace to two photovoltaic power plants per week. The municipal corporation announced in its press release.
Thanks to THMP, the first three apartment buildings in Prague will use clean energy immediately after being connected to the network. This year, for example, a home for the elderly in Ďáblice, the building of the Police of the Czech Republic in Prague 4 or a school in Prague 11 will be added. Especially in the current situation, when many households are taking advantage of rising electricity prices. On the other hand, photovoltaic power plants provide their own source of cheap energy and thereby save energy that otherwise needs to be purchased from the grid. The savings are between 20 and 40 percent,” said the head councilor. m of Prague for the area of asset management Jan Chabr and added that the construction of solar power plants on the roofs of Prague also contributed to the fulfillment of the Climate Plan of the capital city of Prague until 2030.

Technology hl. m of Prague in the entire project of the so-called “Prague solar power plants” ensuring the processing of project documentation, permitting processes and, based on it, the installation of the entire solar power plant. According to Tomáš Jílek, chairman of the board of directors of THMP, the work leading to the finished power plant takes about four weeks: “If a building permit is not required, which prolongs the whole process, we usually have the project documentation for one object ready within three weeks. The implementation itself is already faster – it takes a week. The condition is, however, that there is sufficient material, especially PV panels.”
Photovoltaic panels will be installed by THMP not only on urban buildings, but also on apartment and family houses. “For the following year, we have set a goal of completing up to two photovoltaics per week. We therefore plan to complete the status of our electricians and project managers who helped us achieve the complete result,” added Tomáš Jílek.
The solar power plants built in the maximum this year should have a total output of 400 kWp. The ambition for next year is to increase up to 3 MWp.
