- Mold-Street.com estimates that state reserves are running low could be increased with over 30,000 tons, after the Material Reserves Agency will allocate more money for a wheat area. The online portal quotes an expert in the grain market as saying that increasing state reserves in crisis conditions is a good initiative, in the context of increasingly common sectors. Mold-Street mentions that according to the authorities’ estimates, this year’s wheat harvest will be around 800,000 tons, which is almost the same as last year’s harvest. The information about the amount of wheat in the state reserves is a confidential one, but the previous figure of 70,000 tons is circulating, together with the new reserves, the Republic of Moldova could have a state wheat reserve of almost 100,000 tons.
- The portal Agora.md writes that in the last 30 years five strong droughts hit the Republic of Moldova and have affected consumers and the economy, and of course – food security. For example, the drought of 2007 worsened both the quality of food reaching the tables of people in the villages and the entire agricultural sector.
- The Environment Agency says that the radioactive level on the territory of the Republic of Moldova is normal, reports TV8, against the background of the fighting around the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, Ukraine, the largest in Europe. The journalists also quote representatives of the National Agency for Public Health, who say that currently there is no risk of the population being exposed to radiation, and the administration of potassium iodide, whose stocks were replenished after the donations offered by Romania, is not needed.
- Romania is technically ready to deliver natural gas Republic of Moldova, because the company that provides gas transport has completed the interconnection works between the two states. According to Tvrmoldova.md, which cites officials from Bucharest, Romania is also discussing with its external partners to import gas to be sent to the neighboring Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.
- Replica media writes about the record annual inflation rate faced by the Republic of Moldova. In July, prices increased by 33.55 percent compared to the same period last year. The biggest price increases were for services for the population, for which they had to pay 43.5% more, but also for food products, whose prices were higher by 36.4 percent.
