Three-week documentation – the magistrate is still not taking any consequences
All in all, in three rounds of documentation, all of the 14 teams were caught violating the allocation provisions at least twice, and some teams even committed more than 15 violations. We therefore demand the correct application of the agreement and the withdrawal of the driving license for all Fiaker companies. In addition, the current case shows that the Fiaker are not a reliable partner with whom the city of Salzburg should make contracts.

Vienna (OTS) – Since November 2021, the VGT has already submitted two complete photo documentations to the Salzburg magistrate, which are certain that all Fiaker companies are not sticking to the specified route. Urgent sanctions from the magistrate have not yet been pronounced. A current three-week VGT documentation from June and July 2022 shows daily violations of the specified route.
According to the contract signed in 2018 between the city of Salzburg and the Fiakers, the companies must adhere to the unequivocally declared award criteria keep. The contract even “explicitly points out that this route must be followed exactly and driving on alternative road surfaces is not permitted”.
The fact that the Fiaker vehemently resisted the instruction of an improved route was already confirmed by the VGT occupied several times and submitted to the magistrate in writing and with detailed photographic evidence. A current photo documentation shows numerous daily violations in the period of three weeks in June and July 2022.
In the event of non-compliance with one or more award criteria, a one-time written reminder would have to be issued by the magistrate according to the contract. If the carriages then still do not have to comply with the criteria, the carriages would have to be deprived of their stand in the Residenzplatz area with immediate effect.
When asked, the magistrate states that the Fiaker are required to stick to the agreed route, only in individual cases it can happen that this route has to be deviated from at short notice, for example due to events, demonstrations or similar.
The fact that this argument is not tenable is shown by the current documentation of the VGT, which shows carriages off the permitted route every day over a period of three weeks. Carriages could also be observed driving through events and past demonstrations. All in all, all 14 of the Fiacre teams active in the center of Salzburg were documented several times when driving incorrectly on the route.
