Ryanair was not kidding: it is canceling its eight flights to Budapest
Ryanair’s reaction to the passenger tax, which it calls idiotic, has arrived: the low-cost airline is canceling 8 Budapest routes – noted the okosutas.hu. On Wednesday, the following destinations from Budapest were removed from the schedule, i.e. from the winter schedule change: Bordeaux, Bournemouth, Cologne, Kaunas, Krakow, Lappeenranta, Riga and Turin. It does not include those routes that would have stopped for the winter according to the original plan, such as the very popular summer travel destination Rimini.
The list includes flights for which Ryanair has been selling tickets until now, and has now decided not to fly in the winter. They also thin out on many routes, but this is part of the normal winter schedule, it is also done elsewhere on the network. The complete closure of the reaction to the extra profit tax according to the travel portal.
The government announced that the 300 million fine was flying
Already after the introduction of the extra profit, Ryanair announced that this extra cost could have the consequences of reductions and cancellations – reminded the bank360.hu.
The airline incorporated the new tax levied during the year into the ticket prices, and the Hungarian Minister of Economy’s consumer protection investigation by the company’s Metropolitan Government Office against Ryanair in Hungary. The result of this was made public by Justice Minister Judit Varga in the past few days: a 300 million HUF consumer protection fine was imposed on the airline. The company said that it considers the punishment unfounded and will take the case to court (The capital government office is headed by the Fidesz chief Sára Botond – the ed.)
Because of the extra profit tax, the head of Ryanair, Michael O’Leary, had previously publicly whipped the Hungarian government and its minister, Márton Nagy.
