G. Landsbergis approved policy guidelines for strengthening diaspora relations with Lithuania
As the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed, Lithuanian diaspora policy strategic guidelines “Globali” 2022-2024 plan will pay particular attention to Lithuanian education.
As G. Landsbergis said, there is also an emphasis on promoting the attraction of foreign tourists, increasing exports from Lithuania, implementing the idea of a “returning Lithuania” and increasing the reach of the diaspora, using more effective means of communication.
“The active role of the diaspora in these areas is very important for Lithuania and the people of Lithuania, mainly – support in the fight against the challenges posed by non-democratic states”, the minister signed the order.
According to the MFA, the action plan covers an important area, including education, culture, economic cooperation, return migration, and will be implemented by 30 state institutions and seven municipalities.
The plan was finally approved on August 3 at the Government meeting.
Strategic guidelines of Lithuanian diaspora policy “Global Lietuva” 2022-2030 and action plan for their implementation 2022-2024 “Global Lietuvos” valid in 2011-2021 – the program and plan for the involvement of foreign Lithuanians in the life of the state.
Funds for the plan are provided in the budget, it is planned for three years, with annual renewal and extension for one year.
