(ANSA) – ALTOPASCIO (LUCCA), 11 AUG – More than 20 hectares of woods (5 hectares) and brushwood (15 hectares) were burned in the afternoon following a fire in Villa Campanile, a hamlet in the municipality of Castelfranco di Sotto ( Pisa), on the border with the province of Lucca. The other front of the fire was in the territory of Altopascio (Lucca). The situation has been brought under control, remediation operations have been activated to prevent the fire from restarting.

Firemen teams were sent from the commands of Pisa, Lucca, Pistoia and Prato. To put out the flames, two helicopters and numerous regional forest firefighting teams were also needed. Much of the burned area was covered by brushwood, but the fire also caused an uninhabited farmhouse and sent a few hectares of wooded area up in smoke. Investigations are underway to establish the cause of the fire. The forest police intervened in the area. The flames came near some houses in Altopascio (Lucca), in the area of ​​via Romana.
