Austria plays against Finland in Ried on Sunday
After the 3-1 defeat against group favorites Finland on Wednesday evening, the Austrians are still without a point after two games. In the return games against Finland and Latvia, the Austrians are under a lot of pressure in the fight for second place, which may be enough for the European Championship qualification.
On Sunday evening there will be a second leg against Finland in the Raiffeisen Volleydome in Ried. Start is at 8:25 p.m. “If we stabilize our game by Sunday and reduce the mistakes, then we have a chance in Ried,” says team coach Radovan Gacic. “Of course, the starting position is difficult now, but we will give our all in the home game in Ried,” says libero Philipp Kroiss.
Ridden attacker Niklas Etlinger, who is under contract with UVC Ried, is waiting for many fans in “his” hall. “When the Volleydome is full, there is an indescribable atmosphere, the players are extremely motivated,” says Etlinger.
