After fourth place at the World Championships in Antwerp (June), the 3X3 Lions are now looking for a medal at the European Championships. The 3X3 Lions are in group D with Azerbaijan and the Netherlands. Of the four groups of three, the top two qualified for the quarter-finals. From that moment on, a knock-out phase is played. The selection is not yet known, but this time again it will consist of many players from Team Antwerp (world ranking 3). Belgium is second in the world ranking, the Netherlands seventh and Azerbaijan 76th.
Caspar Augustijnen, Bryan De Valck, Nick Celis, Dennis Donkor, Raf Bogaerts and Thibaut Vervoort are among the biggest contenders. Maxime Depuydt, who was present at the World Cup in Antwerp, will probably not be able to participate. He is then in full preparation with his team Liège for a new campaign in the BNXT League. The 3X3 Cats, who reached the quarterfinals on their debut at the World Cup after a good course, were unable to qualify for the 3X3 in Graz, Austria (9-11 September).
