The Deputy Head of the Office of the President Ihor Zhovkva is holding an online meeting with Dan Costello, the Canadian Prime Minister’s Foreign and Defense Policy Officer, and stressed that Ukraine needs more weapons for a successful counteroffensive.
which Zhovkva expressed gratitude for the strong support that Canada traditionally provides to Ukraine, noting the important role played by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
He informed Costello about the current security situation, in particular about the threatening events around the Zaporizhzhia NPP, as well as the need to increase assistance to Ukraine with weapons in order to successfully carry out a further counteroffensive.
In turn, the prime minister’s adviser confirmed that the Canadian side is ready to continue providing comprehensive assistance to Ukraine, as well as to maintain sanctions pressure on Russia.
Zhovkva also informed the interlocutor about unblocking the export of grain from Ukrainian ports on the Black Sea, which should strengthen world food security, which was under threat due to Russian aggression. He thanked for Canada’s help in providing Ukraine with elevators.
During the meeting, the Crimean Platform session on August 23, 2022 was also discussed.
As reported, at the end of June, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced his intention to transfer 39 modern Canadian-made armored vehicles to Ukraine. They were previously ordered for the Canadian Armed Forces, but were redirected to the defense needs of Ukraine.
