The Minister of Culture of the Republic of Moldova met today with the chief rabbi of Moscow in exile, Pinchas Goldschmidt
The Minister of Culture, Sergiu Prodan, met today with Pinchas Goldschmidt, the chief rabbi of Moscow, who left Russia, speaking out against the war. Mr. Goldschmidt has settled in Israel, but continues to support Ukrainian refugees and the Jewish community in the ex-Soviet space in particular.
At the meeting, Goldshmidt was accompanied by Mihail Finchel, deputy director of CRIO Agudat Israel from Moldova.
The officials referred to the refugee crisis, the dimension of human mobility and the associated challenges, as well as the priorities of cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and Israel, especially in the field of tourism and HORECA.
Pinchas Goldschmidt was interested in the restoration of the memory trails, culture and traditions of the Jewish people in the Republic of Moldova and their tourism development.
The mentioned parties have the possibility, using technologies and historical research, to reconstruct facts, people, stories and places and make them available to tourists in audio and video format.
Soon, with the support of the Ministry of Culture, other partners, as well as investors who support the Jewish community, – a platform with such tourist services for foreigners could be created.
It also addressed issues of immovable heritage with historical value for the Jewish community, which they could rehabilitate and capitalize on.
