This Tuesday, August 9, the parking company Zen park unveiled a study regarding parking in France. And surprise, or not, Lille is here 5th most expensive city. With an average price of 1.70 euro for one hour parking lot, and 17 euros for five hours : this time, Lille does not have the most flattering track record.
In front of Nantes and behind Marseille
“In the middle of summer 2022, while galloping inflation is attacking the purchasing power of the French a little more each day, Lille is in 5th position in the 2022 ranking” reveals Zenpark. Unsurprisingly, Paris is the first in the ranking: an hour of parking would cost an average of 5 euros.
The capital of Flanders is not there yet, but it still ranks high in the rankings. While one hour would cost an average of 1.70 euros, five hours of parking would cost 17 euros on average.
“While 1 out of 4 motorists in circulation is looking for a place to park, large cities like Lille have adopted numerous measures to encourage their residents to abandon the car: reduction in the number of parking spaces , pedestrianization of certain neighborhoods and increase in the cost of parking, which now also concerns two-wheelers”, continues the company.
It remains to be seen whether this ranking will dissuade Lille residents from using their car to drive around town.
