Handball Bundesliga newcomer ASV Hamm loses a test match at TSV Hannover-Burgdorf
Up to ten minutes before the end, handball Bundesliga newcomer ASV Hamm-Westfalen held the test match against class competitor TSV Hannover-Burgdorf (27:27). But then the strength dwindled and there was a 28:32 defeat.
Hannover – ASV Hamm-Westfalen, who have been promoted to the Bundesliga, played a test match “almost on a competitive level” on Wednesday evening in Burgdorf against their league competitor, TSV Hannover-Burgdorf. Both teams played at high speed from the start, much to the delight of the 300 or so spectators, and didn’t give each other the ball in the game with changing leads Strengthened, despite a number of good opportunities, after the 27:27 only one goal was scored in the deepest ten minutes. In the end, TSV secured a 32:28 victory (18:15).
Specifications well implemented
ASV coach Michael Lerscht took the result more as a side note anyway. “Today we made further development steps and implemented things well from the training. It was a really good test at a good level,” said Lerscht, who, like on Saturday against Bergisch HC, distributed the playing time to all players. For one of them it was a reunion with some acquaintances: Mait Patrail received a special welcome applause from the already extremely fair audience even from the stands when the team walked in, he had played for TSV for eight years. Of course, there were no sporting welcome gifts from the first division competitor as a result.
An open exchange of blows
Like the ASV, the hosts also pushed the pace right from the start. This is how an exchange of blows went, after six minutes it was already 5:5. In the next attack, Jan von Boenigk gave the guests the first lead, which, however, was converted into a 7:6 after a time penalty against Markus Fuchs from TSV. After the Westphalians made it 7:7, there was a key scene in an intense but never unfair game: Benny Meschke saw the red card for his efforts in defence. But Hannover didn’t capitalize on it, even after a quarter of an hour the game was completely balanced at 10:10. Von Boenigk brought the ASV back into the lead again. The 11:10 for the ASV took TSV trainer Christian Prokop as an opportunity to take a break, which had an effect. With three goals in a row, the hosts took the lead again at 11:13, which lasted until the break (15:18).
Ten minutes without a goal
But the Westphalians were not deterred by this, thanks to a 4:1 run right at the beginning of the second period, the ASV was able to 19:19. It remained balanced until 11:23 p.m. Then the guests present the 25:23 in the 44th minute. Lerscht had long since rotated his staff, but the pace remains high. The change in goal in particular had an effect, Vladimir Bozic defused many free throws in the second half, including two penalty kicks. But the 27:27 in the 50th minute should be the last ASV goal for a long time.
