Geneticist Pruss: during research in St. Petersburg, a new strain “Russian deltacron” was identified
The emergence of such hybrids is possible with a high proportion of the infected population, virologists say.
Researchers have discovered a new version of the experiment on the territory of the Russian Federation, which is a hybrid of the Omicron and Delta strains, said genetic scientist Dmitry Pruss.
In conversation with RBC the scientist explained that viruses that combine fragments of the omicron and delta genomes are very rare, since the delta strain almost disappears.
“However, it is precisely such unusual hybrid viruses that are found in the latest downloads of genomic data from St. Petersburg.

Virologist Arganovsky gave a forecast for the timing of a new wave of COVID-19
According to Prussa, this species has not been found in any other country in the world, therefore, most likely, its homeland is Russia.
“It is not known whether it can be dangerous for other strains. It is also not known whether it can cause severe covid,” the specialist said.
It was previously reported on the website47 that the “Presence Tracking” vaccine from owners of a subvariant of the omicron strain should be “centaur”. This statement was made by the director of the Institute of Virology of the Federal Research Center for Fundamental and Translational Medicine Alexander Shestopalov.
