Actress Ann Van den Broeck (45) came out this week with the news that she has breast cancer. She announces on Instagram that she is receiving chemotherapy, but for now, the actress is doing well. So good that she will be on the stage of the Antwerp City Theater on Friday for the revival of Mama Mia!.
Van den Broeck plays one of the leading roles in the musical Mama Mia!, which will be resumed on Friday in the Stadsschouwburg in Antwerp. The musical was shut down in 2020 after just one week due to corona, and then resumed in the summer of 2021. Due to great success, the performance is now back, with Ann Van den Broeck.
Next Friday, the actress will give the best of herself together with her colleagues during the first evening performance. Those propositions continue to do her health it can remain. At the matinee performances she is replaced by Ann De Winne and Marleen van der Loo. Van den Broeck already announced on Instagram on Tuesday that she is “going well” for the time being. “At the moment, besides fatigue, I don’t have too many last of side effects,” she writes. “On to chemo 7!”
She also thanks that her messages of support, tips and invitations to chat effects her announcement. “That does something to a person”, it sounds. The actress indicates that she hesitated for a long time to share her story, but that she did it to break the taboo surrounding breast cancer. She calls on women and men to have regular check-ups.
