A tent city has sprung up on Prague’s Výstaviště, where over 1,200 scouts from all over the world live
“The Central European Jamboree is held here, which is a meeting of boy scouts and girl scouts not only from Central Europe. There are large expeditions from the countries of the Visegrad Four, but also from Israel, Ukraine, Spain, and Romania, for example,” spokeswoman for the Junák organization – Czech scout Barbora Trojak told the newspaper, adding that the most distant expedition came from Zimbabwe.

The meeting is also attended by 450 children and 50 members of the service team from all over the Czech Republic. “There was a lot on the program, the children visited Prague, today some of them are in Karlštejn. She had a lot of sports, spiritual, development activities. The children are happy,” said Eliška Siblíková, head of the Czech expedition.
I have never seen it
“I like that so many scouts met here. I’ve never seen it, so many scouts in one place. It’s great how we can all have fun here,” described a 15-year-old girl scout from Brno. “I probably like the most that the meeting is so natural,” added her 17-year-old friend.
“We are from Ukraine, we really enjoy the atmosphere here, we learned a lot of new things about the Czech Republic and made friends with a lot of different people,” praised a 15-year-old girl scout from Ukraine.

Part of the program of this year’s 15th edition, which ends on August 12, is also volunteering. As part of it, the participants painted the railings on Nábřeží Kapitán Jaroš or repaired the children’s playground and weeded flower beds in Stromovka.
Every evening, concerts are held in the camp and montages from the previous day are shown. Guests also come to the place as representatives of non-profit organizations, universities or companies.
The Central European Jamboree takes place in Prague after 25 years. In 1997, scouts camped at the Džbán reservoir in Prague 6. The last such meeting in the Czech Republic took place in 2014 in Doksy. The first event of this kind took place in our country in 1931 under the name Slavic Scout Camps. At that time, 15 thousand participants set in Stromovka.
