The number of animals abandoned this summer is clearly increasing according to the SPA. And that of crimes against them is also increasing. Monday August 9, 2022, a crew of the national police of Toulouse (Haute-Garonne) discovered in an apartment 3 dead cats, abandoned by their owner. Today, Tuesday, August 9, 2022, it’s a 2 year old dog who was found dead near one of the portals of the SPAnorth of Toulouse.

Tuesday, August 9, 2022, around 1 p.m., Celine Gradel, police captain and president of the association for the defense of the animal cause “Les 4 Pattounes”, receives an alert on her phone: a dog has disappeared in Toulouse. She then joins the SPA for more information and is redirected to a pregnant woman who would be the owner of the animal.
Overwhelmed by her pregnancy, she explains to him that she “would have liked to get rid of » Friday, August 5th. She says that she tried to join the SPA, without success, because the service is overloaded with dropouts. So, the woman would have asked her father to go and tie the dog at the level of the SPA so that he could be found there.
Chosen made by man. But he allegedly, according to the captain, tied the dog to an isolated gate, where it was “difficult for a SPA agent to see him”. And what’s more, with 1m tie and a muzzlepreventing him from being seen and heard.
Worried this morning, the pregnant woman reportedly “called her social worker” to find out from the SPA to find out whether or not her dog had been found by the shelter. Negative response from the SPA, which then launched a report for a lost dog on Tuesday August 9.
Discovery of Manny
Following his call with the dog’s owner, the police captain asks the woman’s father to come to the scene. “He was the only one who knew the exact location,” says Céline Gradel.

“He died alone in silence and under the sun. In excruciating pain,” says Celine Gradel, president of the association ‘Les 4 Pattounes’. »
The association announces that it is filing a complaint and becoming a civil party in this case. For abandoning an animal, the owner incurs three years’ imprisonment and a fine of 45,000 euros.
