The court reopened the case of the Armenian who shot in Zličín years ago
According to previous convictions, Caturjan shot the two men in July 2016 for “undetermined reasons”. But witnesses said that the incident was preceded by an argument between several people. According to prosecutors, the Armenian may have been hired by one of the injured people who owed money. In 2017, the city court also indicated this in the judgment, according to which the evidence shows that Caturjan arrived at the scene with the task of shooting.
Today, Caturjan denied that he went to the place with the intention of provoking a conflict. According to him, one of the victims owed 400,000 euros to an acquaintance of his, so he went with him to resolve the situation. According to him, there were more people of Armenian origin at the place. He met up with the men at a cafe, after which they walked away from the mall. Caturjan described that at that time one of the men pulled out a gun and pointed it at him.
Therefore, he pulled out his pistol and started shooting towards the men with guns, according to him, they were aiming at his head. According to Caturjan, the man ran away. In the meantime, however, Caturjan tried to get closer, so Armén appeared and immediately shot at him. He then took the gun from him, which was later found to be a gun for rubber projects.
According to the indictment, Caturjan did not hit the first of the men, but he had to hit the second several times, his life was saved by a doctor. Among other things, Caturjan said that if he really wanted to kill the man, he had the opportunity to do so.
Both victims came to court today. The first of them, as in 2017, stated that due to the extent of his injuries, he did not remember the event. However, he denied that he owed anyone money. The other refused to testify.
The defendant Armén had a firearm illegally, as well as a number of cartridges of various brands, which were later found by the police in the attic of his house in Karlštejn. In addition to attempted double murder, the man is charged with illegal arming. The main trial will continue on Wednesday and Thursday, and the hearing is also scheduled for early September.
