Russia handed over a batch of military and helicopters to Mali
Russia handed over L-39 and Su-25 fighter jets and Mi-24P and Mi-8 combat helicopters, as well as CASA C-295 tactical transport aircraft to Mali during a ceremony in the history of the country of Bamako, informs “RIA News”. The exact number of transferred equipment is not specified.
“I must say that today’s ceremony is related to its nature, quality, and also a component of what you present to me, of which we expose only a part, and the rest, of course, is involved in the operation at the time of this ceremony. Many thanks to the Transitional President, Colonel Assimi Goita, and to the mutually beneficial partnership with the Russian Federation,” Malian Defense Minister Sadio Camara said during the ceremony.
At the ceremony, Russian Ambassador to Mali Igor Gromyko, Mali Prime Minister Shogel Maiga, as well as Chairman of the Transitional Council Building Malik Dyau and Transitional President Assimi Goite.
At the end of March, Mali received the first batch of equipment from Russia in the framework of cooperation in the fight against terrorism: two helicopters wrote Turkish news agency “Anadolu” with reference to the Ministry of Defense of Mali. At the beginning, Mali received a second batch of military equipment from Russia. Among the transferred weapons were, among other things, two combat helicopters and radar equipment. Also in October 2021, four Mi-171 helicopters, weapons and drugs were delivered to Mali from Russia.
