Nutrition and Health Senior Assessment Specialist – Switzerland
BACKGROUND TO IMPACT AND REACH
IMPACT Initiatives is a humanitarian NGO based in Geneva, Switzerland. The organization manages several initiatives including the REACH initiative. The IMPACT team consists of specialists in data collection, management and analysis, GIS and remote sensing. IMPACT was created on the initiative of ACTED, an international NGO headquartered in Paris and present in thirty countries. The two organizations have a strong complementarity, formalized in a global partnership, which allows IMPACT in particular to benefit from the operational support of ACTED in its areas of intervention.
REACH was launched in 2010 as a joint initiative of two international NGOs (IMPACT initiatives and TRADE) and the Program for Operational Satellite Applications of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) (UNOSAT). The purpose of REACH is to encourage and facilitate the development of information products that enhance the decision-making and planning capacity of the humanitarian community for emergency, recovery and development contexts and support and work within the humanitarian reform process. REACH facilitates information management for support stakeholders through three complementary services: (a) needs and situation assessments supported by REACH teams; (b) situation analysis using satellite imagery; (c) Provision of appropriate databases and (web) mapping facilities and expertise.
ACTED is a French humanitarian NGO founded in 1993 that supports vulnerable populations affected by humanitarian crises around the world. ACTED provides continuous support to vulnerable communities by ensuring the sustainability of post-crisis interventions and addressing long-term challenges faced by our target groups to break the cycle of poverty, promote development and reduce vulnerability to disasters. Her interventions aim to cover the multiple aspects of humanitarian and development crises through a multidisciplinary approach that is both global and local, adapted to each context. Its 3,300 employees are committed to responding to emergencies worldwide, supporting recovery and rehabilitation, and promoting sustainable development.
