Non-European tourists, mainly Americans, are slowly returning to Prague
According to the Czech Statistical Office, more and more tourists are coming to Prague. During the second quarter of this year, i.e. the period from April to June, 1,610,631 visited the metropolis. Tourists from non-European countries, especially from the USA, who hold the third position among foreign travelers, also started coming to Prague again. Klára Malá, spokeswoman for the municipal marketing company Prague City Tourism, informed about it.
The positive trend of the increase in the number of domestic guests is also evidenced by current data. The number of domestic tourists increased by almost 40 percent compared to the same period in 2019. In the second quarter of the year, the capital’s attendance reached 75 percent of the pre-Covid period.
According to the current data of the CZSO, a total of 1,610,631 tourists visited Prague in the second quarter of this year. This is more than a hundred percent increase compared to the first third month of the year.
“Czech tourists are still leading the way in terms of attendance, with 430,930 visitors to the metropolis. Furthermore, traditionally, tourists from Germany, Slovakia, the USA and Poland also dominated. The total number of nights spent in the metropolis was 3,548,898, the average length of stay was around 2.2 nights per person,” said Klára Malá.
After the covid break, Prague also welcomed non-European travelers. Most of them came from the United States, followed by tourists from Israel. The share of non-European visitors made up a fifth of the total number of foreign tourists. Tourists from Southeast Asia and Russia still travel to Prague at a minimum.
