“There is no more space in the cemetery. ” This verdict, Fabrice Crepy, mayor of Saint-Pierre-de-Lages, did so a long time ago. To solve this problem, he and his team decided to expand the cemetery. From September 2022a series of works will begin in the commune.
If there is a lack of space in the cemetery, it is also because the population has increased, according to the mayor: “A first extension had been carried out in the 1990s. But today, that is no longer enough. We have to change things again. During the health crisis, some people were unable to enter their loved ones in the municipality. »
32 new concessions
Located next to the village church, it will therefore welcome 32 new dealerships. They will be accompanied by the creation of 16 cavesbut also a new columbarium, embellished with Japanese steps. You will also find there three new benches and one shaded remembrance garden.
This achievement should provide more space between concessions. In addition, it will give harmony around the church:
It has to be pleasant for people paying homage to a loved one or going to the cemetery.
A budget of €70,000 (including tax)
Like any project, the expansion of the Saint-Pierre-de-Lages cemetery has a cost. Thus, the town hall has invested €70,000 (including tax) in order to achieve it. Part of this investment will be subsidized by the county council.
“On submission of the file to the Department. There was an agreement so we should receive help from this community, “said Fabrice Crepy.
An environmental commitment
Beyond the aesthetic contribution in the cemetery, the town hall intends to keep its environmental commitment. “We are committed to obtaining the label Zero-phyto. We are therefore going to vegetate these new developments. However, we also want to adapt this principle to already existing games. »
At the end of the work, that is to say in January 2023, the aesthetic will be a mix between earth and stone. “It is really this aspect that we intend to develop in this part of the cemetery before doing so on the rest. ” Thereby, colorful plant palettes, composed of plants requiring little water will be planted in the cemetery. They will therefore be species that tolerate heat and drought more easily.
This work will take several months to complete.
