Marianne Vos took the stage win in Denmark
The start of the first stage of the Tour of Norway went from Kongens Nytorv in Denmark’s capital and north to Helsingör.
It was the Dutch Marianne Vos (Team Jumbo Visma) who was the strongest in the final sprint and took the stage win. She therefore leads overall and can wear the yellow jersey.
– It went very, very fast. I was very nervous, everyone wants to be far ahead. But I’m very happy to be able to take it, says Vos to TV 2 after the victory.
She took the win ahead of Megan Jastrab (Team DSM) and Shari Bossuyt (Canyon/SRAM Racing).
Back after broken collarbone
Norwegian Susanne Andersen (Uno-X) was in the sprint for a long time, but ended up outside the top ten. She is back after a tough time with a broken collarbone.
– With 500 meters to go I tried to get onto Marianne’s (Vos) wheel inside the barriers because I thought she would find an opening, but I think some Trek girls came and closed it for me, Andersen tells TV 2 after the stage.
Large parts of the field were gathered almost right up to the race, and all the Norwegian Uno-X riders were well placed.
Both Marie Berg Edseth, Mie Bjørndal Ottestad, Anne Dorthe Ysland put themselves far ahead in the field, in addition to Andersen.
– A little hectic
Several of the Norwegian riders on Team Norway could also be seen far ahead, including Malin Eriksen.
– How was the stage?
– It was quite fast. Easy to get ahead, but it was my first ride at this level. It was a bit hectic towards the goal, but it was a good day, says Eriksen.
– Great to see Uno-X and Susann Andersen brought out here, said TV 2’s cycling expert Magnus Drivenes just before the sprint match.
On Wednesday, the women cycle the 2nd stage between Mollösund and Strömstad. Watch the stage on TV 2 and TV 2 Play.
