in the middle of a heat wave, the Nakache swimming pool, the largest in the city, closed again
The Nakache swimming pool, the largest municipal swimming pool in Toulouse, has been closed since Monday until further notice. The water analyzes were not good yesterday resulting in the mandatory closure of the basin. Which falls badly in the middle of a heat wave when the pink city already lacks pools to cool off.

While Toulouse and its region are experiencing a new heat wave, with photos expected up to 38 degrees tomorrow Wednesday August 9, the Nakache municipal swimming pool has been forced to close its doors this Monday August 8 until further notice, as indicates the site of the town hall of Toulouse.
This municipal pool, the largest in the city, welcomes thousands of swimmers. More than 3000 to 4000 per day minimum right now. A water point to cool off which is essential during a heat wave but which therefore remains closed for the next few days and which the people of Toulouse will have to do without.
Indeed between the high temperatures and an exponential frequentation, bacteria have proliferated in the pool making bathing prohibited. Monday, August 7, the analyzes carried out on the waters were not good. The technical teams are hard at work to restore the water balance but, for the moment, no reopening date has been given.
This is the second time that the largest pool in Toulouse has closed its doors. On July 20, the services of the town hall explained that the partial closure of the pool was due to a problem with the chlorine threshold to be respected. But these technical maintenance problems exasperate Toulouse users and opposition politicians.
Indeed, bathing places in Toulouse are not numerous enough and have been reported this year with the heat wave.
The Pech David indoor swimming pool, for example, which has a retractable roof, is closed due to renovation works. Indeed, faced with this shortage of water points, and faced with the dilapidated state of the pools, the city has been rolling out an ambitious “Pool Plan” for 5 years to renovate several sites.
As a result, several one-off closures have occurred (Castex, Bellevue, Léo Lagrange, Nakache, etc.) aggravating the current shortage.
As for Lac de la Ramée, its bathing area is also prohibited at the moment following a proliferation of algae due to high temperatures.
Faced with these multiple closures, the elected representatives of Alternative municipal citoyenne are stepping up to the plate. They wonder: “What are the reasons that lead the town hall to close Papus and Nakache in the heat wave? Nobody knows. The dilapidated state of the swimming pools is alarming: the Castex basin would lose the equivalent of a small basin in water every day, the Nakache summer basin is dirty”, note these opponents of the mayor of Toulouse.
In a gallery, Agathe Roby, François Piquemal and Odile Maurin claim “to the town hall of Toulouse to make a public assessment of the state of the city’s swimming pools as a matter of urgency”.
